Okay, first off, this "warning" I got before replying to this was hilarious. I must share it:

Secondly, found a running 440 w/ tranny on Craigslist for $1000.  Eff if I had a job, this truck would have a heart transplant.

So as some of you might know, and for those that don't, the woman's parents gave us the title to the truck as a wedding present.  Pretty stoked on that.

Anywho, got her transplanted to the Mopar capital of southern MN (AKA, my bosses house) recently to begin the resurrection.  Thing had a decent miss in the #8 cylinder.  Took the right head off this weekend to find this :( :

That said, we pulled the motor and tranny (wouldn't shift into drive) out and are currently in the process of building up a replacement .  Until then, I guess this will have to do:

No sir.  We pulled the 383 and tranny outta the truck.  Matt "just so happened" to have a 440 sitting in the back of the shed, along with 3 or 4 727's.  We've been tearing down and putting back together the 440 this whole week.  Checked compression, took the heads off to check cylinder walls, oil pan off to check crank bearings.  Thing is legit low miles.

Took the cam out last night and put in a brand new Comp one tonight with a different set of timing gears and a double roller chain.  Thing's gonna be pretty sweet...  Hoping to make some noise by this weekend if everything continues to go smoothly.

Got all the gasket surfaces cleaned up with a scotch brite wheel tonight so it's ready for assembly.  Matt's big bore kit came in last week and we were under the assumption that it came with a full gasket kit.  He was planning on picking through that to assemble this one and I'd just replace them when he needed to assemble his new beast.  Unfortunately, not the case.  So we're waiting on gaskets now.  Might just have to get 'em individually locally or something.

My "plans" as of now are to get it mechanically sound. We'll get this motor/tranny combo in and rocking and then I'll hopefully have some success messing with the wiring.  I remember when I drove it before the blinkers and flashers didn't really function properly.  Would like to get that crap taken care of so there are no worries when we go road tripping to Iowa next year (*cough*Randy, Mopar only drags, be there*cough*).

Down the road I'd like to do some rust repair, basically to stop it from getting any worse.  Would be nice to get some new window/door gaskets to keep the water from getting inside.  Maybe a few little details on the inside, aka get rid of the ghey sagging headliner and house carpet that's on the sides of the cab (WTF...).

Otherwise, nothing radical for paint.  Wanna do a somewhat old-school inspired paint job of a made-up business name that'd kinda be in homage to her parents.  Brush paint it on the front doors like they did back in the day.  And probably some custom plates to match it.  Would be a cool surprise for them and a "thanks" for a sweet present.

Gasket set came yesterday.  Stayed at the plantation 'til almost 10 tonight.  Made some solid progress, tho.  Motor is back together minus carb and alternator.  Bolted the tranny on and put the heart back in the beast.  Thing looks pretty massive in there despite how ridiculously huge the engine compartment is.  Had some clearance issues with the brake booster and valve cover thanks to the wider block.  Little sweet chin music with the hammer and she's good to go.
