Anybody ever had experience with hub adaptors?  Not just spacers, but actual adaptors.  4-lug to a 5-lug?  I know it's probably some risky business, but I think the 4X100 pattern on this old beast will limit my choice of wheels.  And with my latest score on some sweet tires, I'm probably going to change my "plan" when it comes to wheels for this thing.

Here's a link to a place I found online.  Sells all sorts of bolt pattern adaptors, like 4x100 to 4x108 and stuff, and then I found this one which changes it from 4x100 to 5x114.3 (4.5").

http://www.ezaccessory.com/Wheel_Adapter_4_Lug_100_To_5_Lug_4_5_p/4100-5450b.htm

I can already guess that the extra width these will add to the hub as a whole would be a problem, as it would force the wheels out a little ways.  And with the wider tires I bought, I can only imagine they'd be rubbing like a mofo.  Time to roll some fenders, I guess.

Otherwise, I've been trying to research ways to convert these 4-lugs to a 5-lug by swapping out the hubs themselves.  The BMW M3 of this era has 5-lug wheels, and apparently the rear hubs are almost a straight swap.  The fronts are a little more difficult, but still fairly do-able.

Holy canoly.  Just started searching eBay and found some GNARLY direct bolt up wheels for this thing.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290456931764&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en

Roughly $600 shipped.  They're staggered wheels so the front ones are a little narrower, and the back ones are a little wider and have a deeper dish.  The fat tires would for sure fit the back ones, but I'm guessing not the fronts.  Hmm...

Maybe find some tires that fit the front and just have a bunch of fat tires for the rear to burn off...

Haha.  That's what I was thinking!  I'd think a pair on the front would last for a while.  Not like I'd be putting 10,000 miles a year on it or anything crazy.  And rears would just be swappable.

First I think that BMW Heart transplant needs to commence. How about that for a brotherly saturday project? Bring your bro up ??? at least get the wireing harness figured out on the good one and get the motor unbolted / out of the way. That way we can at least look at the clutch setup and start cuttin some holes if need be.

Let me run it past the bro.  Maybe I could talk them into gettin' up early and making things happen.  He'd get to see the NCH HQ, and we'd get to take advantage of another set of hands and guns.  I'm sure he'd be down to sweat a little.  Momma Chaunce can meet her other daughter-in-law and Papa Chaunce can meet the other son he really wish he didn't have.

Maybe do a little grilling, too?  I'll bring the High Life in trade for your assistance.  Maybe Ry-dawg would be down to party if I brought enough.

If this goes down, you better bring your "booties".  crap's gonna get DEEP!

Yeah, she's been sour for quite some time.  And it's this coming weekend.  Most likely Saturday only.  My bro and his wife are rolling in sometime Thursday.  Staying through Sunday cuz my mom's flying in from New Zealand late Saturday evening.  Confused yet?  Good.

So anywho, we'll probably hang out up there Saturday morning 'til late afternoon and then head back to the cities to pick her up from the airport.  Can probably have a little fun with the thing and maybe even make some progress.  We'll see.  If anything I'm sure we'll at least have a good time making fun of each other and crackin' bad jokes.
