My dad and I are going to look at a bad ass welder today.  Put a bug in the ear of our mechanic at work the other day and he immediately got on the handle with his brother.  His brother use to work for a welding/machining shop and knew of a couple welders they bought for one job and I think haven't used them since.  Either way, it's supposedly in awesome condition and we're gonna check it out.  Also starting on running 220 to the garage today.

Might be moving "Operation - BMW" to the Forest Lake area for the winter...  :batman:

Now all I gotta do is get my bro-ski to pull that 302 from the Galaxie, and also find myself a T5 tranny from a Mustang and then it's only a matter of time until the fecal matter comes into contact with the rotary air motivator.

Guessing that's the case.  I 'spose it's time to try to unload it and get some money to put towards the hot rod project then, eh?   ???

Made some progress on the welder operation today:

Dug a trench, laid some pipe, ran some wire.  Almost done with that end of it, now just gotta get the welder end wrapped up, which sounds like it'll be a go in the next couple days.   :woot:

So there's a set of cellar doors on the side of the house and a big rectangular hole dug into the ground where a set of stairs go down into the basement.  The stairs are junk, but the hole is all supported with concrete blocks.  My dad came up with a sweet idea of tearing the crappy stairs out, replacing them with some new, more sensible ones, and also making them easily removeable.  The goal, for him, is to be able to take the stairs out, then insert a big piece of steel channel, and gracefully roll his motorcycles down in to the basement for the winter.  He'll be able to work on them in the warmth of the basement on not have to heat the whole garage to do so.

So you know what that means.  Add one more steel channel ramp, build a cart/stand with some decent sized wheels, and we'll be rolling a motor, tranny, etc. downstairs as well.  Best of all, the room that's immediately accessed by this side door has work benches around 3/4 of the walls, and instead of putting regular paneling up they used pegboard on the ENTIRE thing.  Gotta get a stereo in there now and we'll be good to go.

Found a pretty rad one for sale.  Not interested, just cool for the sake of looking at it.  Maybe a wee bit too much red/black going on, but kinda cool nonetheless.  My favorite part is the euro-plate on the front.  For those non-euro fans here, E30 is the chassis code for these things.
