I am excited to go. I read some of you were going down as a group and I had hoped to tag along with the old Dodge. I read it is at the Anoka county fairgrounds on October 20, doors open at 9am.

Car Discussion / My 1947 Dodge WH47 2 ton truck
September 20, 2013, 09:52:01 PM
I figured I would share some info and pictures of my old Dodge. I've owned it for about 4-5 years, bought it from a lady in the town Nowthen,MN. I haven't done a whole lot to it, it needed tires VERY badly when I got it you could damn near see the air in them. I had the wheels sand blasted and powder coated then installed a new set of tires (almost as much as I paid for the truck). The truck is all original and unrestored, It had a 251c.i. flathead 6, a 5 speed non syncro'd trannsmission, and a 2 speed rear axle. Beside tires I replace the fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, and I had to replace the intake and exhaust manifolds because they were cracked. It runs and drives great. It tops out about 47-49mph, that's ok, when I drive it I'm not in a hurry. It is alot of fun to drive around, lots of people like to check it out. Just about everytime I stop somewhere with it I have someone ask me about it, lots of older folks come up to me and tell me "we had one of them back on the farm". Good times. Here are some photos.

Every year we do an employee classic car show at my work and today's the day. I drove the old 47 Dodge with the Willys on it. I will take some pics later and try to figure out how to post them. I have been bringing a different car/truck every year for the last 5 years. We used to have burn-out competitions after work but the boss put the kibosh on that last year. I will have to figure out how to post videos here too, I did a sweet burn-out with my lifted 1977 Dodge Powerwagon on 42" superswampers a few years back. I was doing figure-8s on the blacktop.

Hi hillbillys! My name is Andy and I am the guy who was at Braham fest with the 1947 Dodge WH47 two ton truck with the 46 Willys CJ2A on the back of it. I didn't get to meet too many of you but I did get a few good chats in with a few of the car show attendees. I heard about your club when I bought the Willys, (which I named Homer), from Les. I will lay out the story for you here. I grew up in Pine City and my neighbor and very good friend, who had the nick name Homer, owned that old Willys. When I was just a young boy I thought it was the coolest thing with wheels. It has a Ford 289 that my brother helped install back in the early 80's and he also helped do the spring over suspension lift. Homer passed back in 2010 and I often wondered what happened to his old Jeep. Well about a month ago I was looking thru craiglist like I often do and there it was, Homers Willys. I HAD to have it!!! It is EXACTLY the same as when I was a kid. Same tires, no brakes, same old passenger door know from an old house door, same plexiglass windows that my dad gave Homer. When you open the drivers door there is a sticker for Grab-on handle bar grips that I stuck on it back when I was probably under 5 years old. LOTS of cool memorys. When Les asked me if there was anything I would like to know about the jeep I asked if there was any thing he would like to know about it, then I told him the story. I hope to get it road worthy some time in the future. He told me about your guys car show in Braham and I had been excited about it since. I am a Dodge guy but I enjoy all old cars and even more so TRUCKS. I have been reading some threads on your site and it looks like you have some fun times, I hope I can get in on some of them sometime. Thats all for now. ANDY
