As a few of you maybe know Ralph asked me to do a few things to his new ride.  The plan is to use a S-10 pickup front frame clip, rearend and running gear.  It has a 2.8 and a 5sp.  Not a barn burner but with the it will do.  I figure i can mock up sbc stuff at the same time so some day it will get the go fast.  He wants to keep all the efi stuff for easy of driveablity which is sweet havent done a carb to efi swap in a few years,  Im kinda looking forward to this project should be kinda fun.  Ill keep the pics coming as I get working more on it, just had time to put a few hrs in lately but he what I have so far.

Pics/Vids of cars / Something new in the works!?!
October 03, 2010, 07:46:19 PM
I went to the Model A clubs swap meet today in hopes of finding a intake for my pickup, but the speed gods had other thoughts for me I guess.  Here is what I ended up with instead.

I have some sort of evil thoughts for it, Im hoping to find some 30-31 model A doors off of a coupe or truck possible truck.  Then its all going to be piece together to build a roadster car body.

Pics/Vids of cars / "A" build
May 26, 2010, 06:39:19 PM
I was thinkin at work today that maybe I should put up some pics of the pickup as I have been working on it.  Since everyone has is it in a rolling state maybe I can show how it came to be.  Ill give a quick run down of what I have used for what and how I did or more so why I did what I did.

The frame-
It is made up of 2"x3" sq. tubing an 1/8" thick.  The cross memeber for the rear controll arms are made up of 2"x2" sq tubing 3/16" thick.  The plan was to build it a little on the light side for the only purpose of an under powered engine.  So the littler the faster Im hoping for the complete car to weigh in around 1900 to 2000 lbs. at most.

The body-
It start life as just a cowl from a 29 A sedan.  The body is all 18 gauge sheet metal.  The floor is made up of 1"x 1" sq tubing not even sure how thick it really is I know it bent fairly easies. Oh well it only has to support my Fat  and maybe one other person.

The Drivetrain-
Its a 265 sbc and a 4spd.  I figure like 150 horse at most so the 4spd should help make it a little more fun to drive.  5000 or 6000 and dump the clutch should make some tire smoke.  The rear axle is out of my shoebox it has 3.45 gears it will work until I find a narrow 9" out of a early bronco. "Farmboy" thats your department.

Anyways Ill get at putting up some pics tonight I hope or in the am for sure

Car Discussion / one of those days
May 22, 2010, 08:05:40 PM
I bet everyone that has ever built a car has had one of these day.  I started the day off with the best intentions of getting the radiator mock into the pickup.  So there I was radiator in one hand grillshell in the other after about 10 mind of stairing and thinking I put down the radiator and attack the project.  With the grillshell sitting where I thought it would look the best I grabbed the radiator walked over to the pickup, looking and wondereding what the f did I do.  I thought I would be Mr kool and mount my leaf spring above the axle instead off behind like my plan originally call for.  I studied the radiator in the shell and thought well maybe if I cut the lower hose outlet off and braze it up at a 90 it wont end up going between the spring and the axle.  Not a great spot I would think a hose should be.  After a hr of stairing and thinking what in the hell was I thinking, I just decided that no matter how much more work I have to do I must move the spring to behind the axle.  I guess its a small price to pay to look cool.  With that all said of to work I go.  Moral of my tale when I build something  I need to stick to my plan in my head not what I think at that moment.
