Anyone know of a decently priced conversion kit? I found one that includes the distributor on Jegs, but its $180. Seems a bit rich for my blood.

I bet they use points if its derby car related.  Are you wanting to convert a big block or small block and small block has I want to say a L engine first gen. and a LA engine which is second gen.  I think L engine is also known as poly engine.  Any how you just need to find a electronic dist out of a newer engine all big block is the same and small block LA is the same and if I recall right some poly is the same a small block LA.  Once you have that just get a electronic control mod for a newer [75 and up] mopar.  I can get you a wiring diagram from there if need be.  Or if you have a small block I have a HEI one that I would let go cheap.

Apparently the 383 in the Dodge truck is from a derby car.  Think it'd have the points already in it like ya said?  I'll have to do some research on it soon.  We haven't tried starting it yet but got the crank turning with a big breaker bar.  Oil was sludge and everything was stuck, but she's good to go now.  I hope.

Anywho, the motor's already been beat, why not beat it more?  Smokey burnouts!   :rev:

Derby car what the heck.  That just means it can handle being warm then.  As farmboy about the time he came over to see the "A" pickup steaming awhile it was funny
